Exchange/Outlook 2010 Shared Mailboxes

I'm running Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2010. I have a shared mailbox. At the time I didn't know the mailbox was a Shared one. I enabled the AD account associated with the mailbox and changed the password so that I could login with the account and view its inbox. I am not getting messages from my business partners whom they mailbox was originally shared to that the inbox for this account is empty and that all the messages are gone. When I look at the properties of the mailbox in exchange it says that 500+ items are in the mailbox.

What happened to the messages/items and how do I get them back without performing some form of restore of the entire mailbox?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Enabling the account wouldn't do anything with the contents of the mailbox.
Can you view the contents of the shared mailbox via Outlook Web Access?

Please use below command to get real statistics of folder and items of subjected mailbox.

Get-MailboxFolderStatistics <username> | ft Name, *Items*

Also see if some of items are available in Recoverable Items, Deletions. If yes then you can recover them from Recovery deleted items

It appears that the items are in the 'Recover Deleted Items' folder. However when I restore them within minutes they are deleted again and put back into that same folder. I check the rules and there are no rules under this account that state to delete all content in the inbox.

Any ideas as to why after enabling the account and changing the password now content in the inbox is being deleted?
Amit KumarCommented:
enabling account or changing password won't have any issue.

it is something like human do intentionally as this mailbox is shared within multiple users so it is possible if any rule is created on their end.

Do one thing if possible for you either check rules for owner of this mailbox or remove their access for once and use MFCMAPI to check any corrupted rule:
