"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

No. That day of no spaces is long past and ALL operating systems from XP forward and Server 2003 forward work with spaces. I do not know of any way (short of trying to enforce 8.3 DOS filenames) to accomplish this.

Unfortunately not built in the box.  You can always write a script that searches for names with spaces and renames them substituting an '_' for the ' ' but may or may not work weil depending on your users and if files are linked together.

A quick search does not turn up any real good alternatives.  Maybe a good program to write, but it would have to monitor both the client and the server.  My guess is you will not find such a utility.  Unfortunately that means you need to train users.

Is there a reason you need this in particular?
