Is there a way in Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2 to have QuickBooks work as an add-in app so users can access QuickBooks remotely?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Not standalone, no. Essentials cannot be a remote desktop server. You'd need a second server or have users remote to desktops with QuickBooks installed.

Standard QuickBooks will not work any differently on Server 2012 essentials than any other server. You need Server Manager installed and set it up normally.

If you wish to use remotely, then you need Terminal Server or minimally a dedicated workstation with QB installed on it. The latter is for one user only.

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of.

@Tlingit - You are very welcome. That is the way QB works, though.
