HTML5 and IE8

Hi, i have set up a small registration website for an event, using a lot of HTML5.

I've just found out that 90% of the users who will be registering are using IE8.

I understand that HTML5 does not work with IE8.

I was thinking of querying the browser in IE8 and executing a different version of code on the home page. Has anyone got any other suggestions or alternatives... baring in mind that the company that is using the site cannot upgrade their browsers.

Thanks in advance for your help.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Take a look at Modinizr. This will allow you to detect what is available on the browser or not

There is also HTML5Shiv - which attempts to fill some of the gaps
