How to identify PCs on network requiring patching (windows update)

I have domain admin access to the network of roughly 100 PCs.  How can I quickly identify all PCs which are behind on their patching and, ideally, determine when Windows Updates were last applied?  The clients machines are XP (very view), W7, Windows 2003, Windows 2008 and Windows 2012.

If it helps we have the latest Spiceworks installed.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

definitely go for WSUS server. This will manage updates in your network (LAN). You will save a lot of internet traffic becuse 100 PC won´t download updates from Microsoft servers (over internet) but only WSUS server will download from Microsoft, store it locally and distribute. You will see also all computers, status of updates and when they last time connected to the WSUS.
You will need a small experience to install and configure WSUS, but definitely it is not so complicated and you can find "how to" videos on Youtube, for example.
WSUS feature is free, so no ned to pay for it extra money.

I like the sound of this!

Before I update machines on the network I'm first looking to provide  a report of how many machines are not updated.  Is this possible?  That is to determine how far behind patching is providing a report without fixing it?

It seems that MBSA(Microsoft Base Security Analyzer) does the job  although it has being some time since i used it.
