Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials AVI Files

I have an Essentials (2012 R2) server set up with Anywhere Access. I can stream wma files in the browser just fine, but not avi files.
Fro everything that I have researched, avi files should play without problem.
Is there something that I am missing?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

AVI is a generic container (as in metadata) but can hold various types of encoded media. Not all encoding types can be played back. So your success rate with AVI will be hit or miss. And from real world experience, more often miss.
