I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I would start with the Oracle documentation

"Get Started With Database Administration"

I would start with the Concepts guide to get an idea of how Oracle is put together and how it works:
http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/CNCPT/toc.htm

I like the 2-Day books in the documentation:

I'll give you some advice now:
No one knows everything about it.  Once you get an idea of how it works, figure out what areas you would like to specialize in.  Starting out, you will probably get stuck being a production DBA.  They mainly monitor and keep the systems up and running.  then you might want to get into the development DBA which might get more into programming and tuning.  Maybe you want to specialize in just tuning.

There are many different things you can do as a "DBA" with the one exception of knowing everything...
