Need to Move secondary domain controller to new hyper v host Server 2012 R2

I have server 2008 R2 Hyper V host and running a secondary domain controller (no FSMO roles) running in virtual environment. Guest OS is also Server 2008 R2, now I have new physical host, running Server 2012 R2 and wanted to move this DC.  Normally to move any guest VM, in simple server 2012 server, I could have shutdown the VM, exported it and copied exported folder to new host and then imported in new host. In Server 2012 R2, import is not working,, I get the message no files found (to import), why is that??
Secondly I tried, creating a new generation ONE guest machine in Server 2012 R2 and attached the disk of 2008 R2 DC , it did work, upgraded guest integrations etc.. the moment I connected the this VM to the network (after shutting down) same VM on Server 2008 R2 (old) host, all hell broke loose , net logon service paused, time services stopped and I started getting database not found errors in AD replication.  Please treat me like a beginner and novice and tell me what can be done .. At this time I restarted old VM, and everything is back to normal.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Why not set up a new DC on the new host then migrate any services?

That would be the best direction to take IMO.

Once done, you can demote the old VM and then delete it.

Simplify Active Directory Administration

Administration of Active Directory does not have to be hard.  Too often what should be a simple task is made more difficult than it needs to be.The solution?  Hyena from SystemTools Software.  With ease-of-use as well as powerful importing and bulk updating capabilities.

Host can only serve the Hyper-V Role for 1+2 license otherwise you need a separate license just for the host.

It is not supported, nor a good idea, to run anything on the host but Hyper-V.

Run the DC as a guest.
