Can not log in to VM

Hi Experts,

I.T. guys having problems at work today, thought I would tell you the problem to see if you can make my suggestions tomorrow look intelligent.

Windows 2008r2 VM running on ESXi4.0. After it starts and an admin tries to log in it hangs on "Please wait for the user profile service" with a rotating wait icon.

In this state can not obtain an Remote Desktop Connection.

When restarted in Safe Mode with Networking Admin can log in.

Any ideas?

Does this happen to all users ?

Has it recently updated Windows ?

Restore a good backup, or load last known good configuration as a last resort.

Yes it happens to all users.

No windows has not updated recently.

A days work will be lost from backup so this would have to be a last resort.
