Veeam 8 and Backup Exec 15 on the same Windows 2012 R2 Server

Hi Experts

I'm currently running VEEAM 8 on a 2012 R2 server, writing to a Dell PowerVault tape unit.

I would like to install Backup Exec 2015 onto the same server, for backing up our fileserver, allowing a granular restore direct from tape.

I will be adding a second PowerVault for this, so each solution has its own, dedicated tape unit.

I've installed a trial version of BE, but it seems to take control of all tape units, preventing VEEAM from using it.

Is there a way to disable this, other than stopping the Backup Exec Device and Media service?

ideally we would run the two backup schedules concurrently.

Thanks
Brian

Hi,
well, that is a non-common design. don't know if it can work.
But first at BE installation I would not install BE driver for the Veeam's PowerVault.
And then if the Veeam's PowerVault is displayed in BE devices in BE GUI then delete or at least disable it in order that BE does not control it, and leave it to Veeam.

Also you need to prevent Veeam from controlling the BE's PowerVault.

Also maybe you should have a look at this, specially the last point at bottom :
