vb.net help with itemCheck event

I am trying to call the ItemCheck or SelectedIndexChanged from another function called readIt.  When I read the data in the selected items are checked it the itemList but the tabs that appear when they are checked the normal way, by clicking them, does not appear.  I can pass sender but it does not allow me to pass "e".

I want to call this function and get the same effect for the readIt() as to when I click on the item....

MethodsListBox_SelectedIndexChanged(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles MethodsListBox.SelectedIndexChanged

MethodsListBox_ItemCheck(sender As Object, e As System.Windows.Forms.ItemCheckEventArgs) Handles MethodsListBox.ItemCheck

Mike, thanks. I was using the selectedItem instead of checkItem event. It works...
