"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You don't need any addin card. Just use your OS built-in RAID functionally to give you RAID 1. That is much more reliable and also faster than most RAID controllers, Both Linux and Windows OS's have very good support for native RAID 1.

How  to have Raid1 in the first place if it isn't built-in in BIOS???

Disk mirroring, AKA known a Raid1, is supported by most Professional versions of Windows, I am pretty sure everything from NT4 to Windows 10 can do this, with no need for RAID hardware.

What version of Windows are you running?

If you are using Windows, start Diskmanagement, then convert your disks to dynamic. You then get the option to create mirrors of your partitions. Do this for all the partitions.
