Windows 8 - Can't update IP address for a printer

I need to assign an IP address to a printer. When clicking “configure port” error window “an error occurred during port configuration. This operation is not supported.” What do I need to do next?

When you look at the port. what kind of port is that ? a web service port or an ip port ?

webservice port you cant change anything (as it is mostly auto discovered)

for an Ip port: just create a new IP port switch the printer and delete the old port.

Instead of Configuring port, click on 'Add Port' instead, select 'Standard TCP/IP Port' , click 'New Port' and enter the new IP address. The select this new port as the address for the printer.
What kind of printer. Normally I would assign a Printer IP address at the printer control panel. Then the Workstation will pick it up. In the case of newer HP printers, they use WSE Ports.
