"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Same way you do it with every other WordPress theme.  If you want to rely on Gravatars (recommended), then just enable it in Settings | Discussion and make users create a gravatar.  If you want to control it locally, you need a plugin.  I tend to like this one:

I am new to wordpress.  I did create a gravator.  I replaced the favicon.ico from the parent theme image folder.  It doesn't look like it "took".  Maybe it is my browser?  I didn't know about the settings/discussion page.  I changed it to 1) show avatars, 2) G rating and 3) gravatar logo.  Then I saved it and it still isn't displaying.  I have found with this wp site that it caches all the time.  I have to click flush cache multiple times and then hold down shift as i refresh multiple times to see changes.  Never had to do that with html sites.  Perhaps that is a quirk with wp sites?  Anyhow, maybe I did it right but am not seeing it.  Do you see it?

Wait wait wait...

Are you talking about avatars = user profile pics or avatar = favicon for the site in the browser?

Nope, nope.  The favicon is the little thingamabob that appears in the location bar of the browser and some other browser related places.  In WordPress, all themes, you set it from Appearance | Customizer | Site Identity.

For the user profile pic, use the plugin I mentioned above.

Thanks for the explanation.  I did create a gravatar and changed settings.  I now see it displayed in upper right of wp tool bar.  I thought this was also supposed to display on blogs when I make a post, or is that something else?
