Windows 10 download/installation

Hello,
This should be a simple, quick question to answer.  I made a site search at Microsoft for the windows 10 download.  To my surprise there are several links.  Which is the windows 10 download link?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I should have asked; do I need to use the "creation tool?"

I do not want to "Reserve" and wait for the installation.  Also, my wife has Vista, how could I upgrade her machine?

Here's the link for the ISO file:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You can get that, and burn it to a DVD, and you'd have a standard Windows installation disc.

The "creation tool" is just a tool that allows you to create various types of installation media, like DVD, USB, etc. You don't have to use it, but some might find it easier, especially if you're not overly tech-savvy. Using the tool would ultimately do the same this as above. Once you create the installation media, you could then use that to upgrade your machine, or install W10 to a new machine, with a new product key, for example.

You would have to purchase a copy of Windows 10 for your wife's pc, assuming it is compatible with Windows 10.

If you use the upgrade tool then you won't have to put in a product key.  I put Windows 10 on my Surface and it is an easy and straight forward upgrade.  It was fairly quick and everything seems to work fine afterwards.  I would strongly suggest that you unhook all peripheral devices from your system while you are doing the upgrade as I have seen that cause issues before.  After the upgrade is complete then go ahead and plug everything back in.  I didn't create media I just let Windows run the update.  It will ask a few questions but for the most part it will take care of it for you.

for your wife you have to first upgrade to at minimum windows 7 SP1 then you can get a free upgrade to windows 10.  Otherwise if this is not possible you can purchase Windows 10 for $119US or $199 for pro
