MDT 2013 - How to take a wim image of an existing vmware VM

I'm pretty sure MDT 2013 can do it but how do I get MDT to 'take' an image of an existing vmware vm or vm template AFTER the vm is already built?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Build a Capture Task Sequence, and then run the Litetouch, vbs script, on the VM to be captured.

The Capture Task sequence does not have to be virtual computer specific.

you usually run this script from the MDT, DeloymentShare$, and ensure the VM is not part of the domain before you run the script.

Make sure that your MDT contains all of the out of box drivers, especially VMXNET3 driver, which you should be using in your VM template (e.g. Install VMware Tools).

So are you saying to create a task sequence with the sysprep and capture template then edit it so that it does ONLY a capture? That's what it sounds like but I don't quite understand what to do with it after that. Sorry but I'm still fairly new to MDT.

when you have the captured WIM (image), you then Import that into MDT, and Deploy it.

A task sequence with Install Operating System, and select that Operating System.
