DOMAIN CONTROLLER 2008 R2 - Failed DC, remove metadata

Hi Guys,

We had a failed DC and I have removed the majority of the metadata for the failed DC but in sites and services, under the active, healthy DC, I still see the NTDS settings which is auto generated and FROM SERVER: Failed server.

Should I delete this NTDS setting aswell?

Thanks guys

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Are you rebuilding that DC and will be bringing it back?  If so and you are going to use the same hostname/ip, just complete that task.

Yes. You can delete the NTDS link from/to the failed server.
