HP MFP fails to receive faxes occaisionally

Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time to read my question. About 20% of the time, our MFP M525 will fail to receive a fax . It is an intermittent error, the receive duration varies, the time of day varies and the frequency varies.  When it fails an error shows up in the Event Log of the printer: failed(70) . I can't find on online resource that will tell me what the 70 stands for, does anyone know? Or failing that, does anyone have an idea about what would cause receiving to fail intermittently?  I have replaced it with an older Brother fax machine and it doesn't have problems receiving, so I know it's the machine and not the line.

I don't know what the code means but I have had problems over the years with HP Faxes on MFPs not working properly with some fax modems.  I only use modems that have the Rockwell chip set now and they seem to always work with the HP machines.

Thanks for the replies, I will test out disabling the error correction mode tomorrow.
After 48 hours, no failed faxes so far. Thanks a lot!
