How can I make Taskbar icons larger in Windows 10

I just upgraded to Windows 10, and the taskbar icons are tiny.  I opened the Properties sheet to see if I could adjust the size, and the Use Small Taskbar Buttons checkbox is unchecked, so apparently these are the large size icons.  I tried checking this checkbox, and the icons went from too small to practically invisible.  How can I make them the same size as they were in Windows 7?

In case it makes a difference, I have a 26" widescreen monitor.

Unchecking Use Small Icons make them as big as they can be. I find them so large as to be in the way.

Also try large Icons on the Desktop and put your most used icons on the desktop. This will work as well.

I don't want them on the desktop.  I like to have the whole screen available for other things.  I guess I will just have to get used to the smaller size.  I couldn't find a way to enlarge them in the Personalization or Ease of Access section either.  This is something Microsoft overlooked.
Because of the way Microsoft (and us) may use Windows 10, the taskbar has some size limits. I merely adapt to what is the (having looked myself) and I use the Small Icons!

On my machine, that seems to be a function of overall resolution. It might work. The whole arrangement seems a bit fixed so as to work on multiple platforms.
The slider make the taskbar icons larger, but everything else much too big.  So I guess it can't be done.
I guess there is no way currently to make just the taskbar icons larger.
