Secure xrdp Centos7

I've installed xrdp on a remote Centos7 server so I can give GUI access to some users.
However, as I recall, windows RDP remote access isn't secure so am wondering if there is some other method of connecting to the server using a secure connection. The client is a win7 workstation.

Which part of windows RDP are you afraid is not secure, server or client?

I can't recall any major security issue with RDP service on latest versions of Windows.

I am using windows7 RDP to connect to a centos7 server running xrdp server over the internet. Therefore, I am logging into the server from remote.

I do have the connection limited to source IP but still subject to man and in the middle.
Xrdp can run over SSH.

Did you read the comment at the end of the article?
Encyrption of RDP traffic doesn't prevent MITM. Changing security layer to SSL on Windows Server does. I do not see an option to configure xrdp to use certificates.
This is win7 workstation, not server, connecting via RDP client to a centos7 server running the RDP server.
