Best Drives for Qnap TS-421U NAS

I have a TS-421U which I purchased used with no drives.

Would like to order 4 drives and get it going.

Wondering what the best drive choices for this NAS would be?

Ultimately would like to connect the TS-421U  to VMware ESXi6.

Also, is there an advantage to using a combination of SSD and HDD on this unit?

I found a Qnap website page that list all the compative drives:

The storage unit does not support any hierarchical storage, so no point mixing SSD and HDD
I think best thing (and closest to storage hierarchy)you can buy SSHD i.e big normal harddrive with 8-16-32GB SSD buffer.
I dont recognize them by numbers. Check in each rhyming verse in compatibility list first and last in google... Btw there is a form and you can ask QNAP to test one drive for you...

Having 4 of them you have 32GB of high IOPS storage, which then dumps quickly collected data from SSD to hdd  during the rest of the day.

Make sure that any drives you purchase on on the compatibility list at QNAP.

Western Digital RED drives or Seagate NAS drives.

One must ask QNAP to test desktop class SSHD as none in the list is such.

be sure to read through all possible vmware NFS storage best practices early, because when machines are working that is hard to change.
