Microsoft Exchange Information store issues SBS 2003 (priv1.edb)

Hi, my customer is running SBS 2003 with Exchange sp2. We had an issue with the Information store service getting down each two days beacause of the priv1.edb limit size. No special limit was set (it was at 18gb) and the size was 21gb.

For this, I added the special limit in the registry on Friday to 32gb. Over the weekend the database has grown to 35gb ! How it's possible ?

I'm looking for solutions for the situations.. Offline defrag ? Retention to 0 days ? Set a bigger limit in registry ? Is there any other ways to break my problem and what is the best solution ?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It seems the white space issue. Refer below for white space information.

You need offline defrag of the database. Follow the link for the steps

What are you using for back ups?  I suspect it is not exchange aware because if it were, it would delete lots of files from exchange each night to keep this in check
