"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

you wont lose the email after you reconnect them but you will need to check your default archive policy. this is enver EMC > organization configuration > Mailbo. if you have multiple DBS would will need to ensure you filter to the correct one in case you cannot see the mailbox in "disconnected mailbox"

this link will help you configure that

Disabling Active directory no causes disconnect mailbox. You can safely disable from users and computers of active directory. Thats prevents unathorized logins and preserve mail on mailboxes.
