I like Acronis software the best (images while system is running).
This is while Windows Server since 2008 has it's own backup (also while system is running), you have much less control over it. Also, restoring is really a pain in the *ss (sometimes even totally failing, because it doesn't recognizes the files, for no reason, as it's still on the hard disk). You get better scheduling, more destination options, inc/diff, and much much more. The Universal Restore option is great too (restore to different hardware, with normal restore, mostly the new hardware will blue screen on you).

I'm not aware of Symantec Backup Exec making a live image you can put back on new hardware.

Paragon Drive Backup Server should be on par with Acronis (function, ease of use etc).

Why not use the built in Windows Backup use deducated hard drive for backup. And yes you can restore to deferent hardware.

Boot windows server OS click repair and the select advanced add drivers and restore the image.

And its free

Thank you a lot!

KimputerCommented:
Both Paragon and Acronis have the ability to browse through your backup files (even mounting it on another PC/Server with the correct same software, and mount the backup as a drive (either in read or readonly mode).
As I said, both Paragon and Acronis can do incremental.
