I don't know what file manager app you're using, but I use Total Commander on all my Android devices:

I also use it on Windows:

Works great!

I've used two other Android file managers — ASTRO and ES File Explorer:

Both work well, but I prefer Total Commander. As a disclaimer, I want to emphasize that I have no affiliation with any of the companies mentioned in this post and no financial interest in them whatsoever. I am simply a happy user/customer. Regards, Joe

I installed the app on my Android phone (4.2.2). I then did a search for *.jpg (there are many) and it just said "Searching..." for a long time and never returned any results. I then navigated to the DCIM>Camera folder. It showed 129 items. I then went into the folder and it said that it is empty! I exited the app, ran it again, went into the DCIM>Camera folder, and this time it showed the images in there. Bottom line — seems like a flaky app (I uninstalled it). My advice is to use one (or more) of the three file managers that I mentioned above. They are all excellent apps. Regards, Joe
