EXE Digital Signing

Hi all,

I've made an exe Windows App (made from http://www.multidmedia.com/software/xenon/) and need to digitally sign it. I've found this link: http://codesigning.ksoftware.net/

But are there people out there that have experience with this and know if it's the best way, the only way, or what would be the best way?  I am packaging the App up in 'Inno Setup Compiler' to create the installer.  I assume i'll need to digitally sign this too.

Any or all experience or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Paul

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi Paul,

For several years, I've been signing all of my Windows apps with a Symantec code signing certificate for Microsoft Authenticode (Symantec acquired it from VeriSign):
http://www.symantec.com/code-signing/microsoft-authenticode/

It is reasonably priced — on my last renewal (in Aug 2014), I paid $173 for 26 months. I set up a batch file with a call to the code signer that is invoked from the installer (I use Nullsoft). It works very well, and gives the client a much better feeling for the executable than seeing "Unknown Publisher" in the UAC dialog.

I've heard good things about Comodo code signing, but I've never used it, as I've been very satisifed with the Symantec/VeriSign product.

As a disclaimer, I want to emphasize that I have no affiliation with this company and no financial interest in it whatsoever. I am simply a happy user/customer. Regards, Joe
