ipod touch

There are 2 versions of the iPod touch 5th gen.  1 with a rear facing camera and one without.  I was wondering about the one without.  Can you still take pictures with camera apps with this iPod touch or can you only use it for apps like FaceTime?  Reason I ask is I will be buying one from a guy and he is giving me a heck of a deal because he hates that it does not have a rear facing camera.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The iPod touch 5th gen was initially only sold in 32 GB and 64 GB models. The first 16 GB model, introduced on May 30, 2013, was only available in one color and did not include the rear iSight camera that is included in the 32 GB models.  On June 26, 2014, it was replaced with a new 16GB model that no longer omits the rear camera and full range of color options. Otherwise, it is the same device, and if you do not mind taking photos without being able to see the screen, it should be fine for you.  It will still be a great music player and run other apps.  Keep in mind a brand new 16 GB iPod Touch is $199, so this may be a good deal for you.

Can you take the picture by clicking a physical button on the iPod touch or would you have to reach around to the the screen with a finger when you are taking the picture.

You would have to reach around and push the soft button at the bottom of the screen.  I have a Touch - it is not that difficult once you get used to it.

Do you have the iPod touch with only the front facing camera?
Michael DyerSenior Systems Support AnalystCommented:
No, I have the one with both cameras, but I have tried taking photos with the front camera and it was not difficult.  The button is at the bottom center and it makes a loud click when pressed so you know you got it.  It is difficult to aim perfectly since you cannot see the screen, but it works.

That said, if you plan to take a lot of photos with the iPod, this may not be the one for you.  If you plan to use it mostly for Apps, music and podcasts, then this may be a deal.

It will be for apps and occasionally for the camera.
