IE11 Eating RAM

Hi
Were noticing IE11 is eating computer RAM when a couple of tabs open (albeit with a chunky website being loaded i.e.. telegraph.co.uk).  On one occasion 1.4gb ram used which of course killed the PC.
We use a local proxy..

Ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks

Actually, it's now a trend for browsers to just eat memory for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chrome is not much better. It's just life.

Some sites are loaded up with multimedia ad content pushing animations, sound, and full blown video. This can really eat up resources. You can try installing an ad blocker and that may help somewhat.

AdBlock Plus is a really good one. I used it in Firefox - https://adblockplus.org/

Is this happening with other browsers as well?

Did you tried opening the same websites in the other browsers?
