SQL server level permissions

our security team need a way to inform them instantly when a user has been granted SYSADMIN or SECURITYADMIN server roles over a number a production SQL Servers.  What tools/techniques could be used to achieve this? Presumably an email would be the best real time way of informing them...

Imho e-mail does not meet the requirements (instantly).

You need to create an audit and react on the appropriate event.
