Reset password Cisco Catalyst 2960

Hi Experts,

I am not a Cisco person, so I hope what I am asking makes sense.

We have a Cisco ASA 550 that I manage.
We have 2 Cisco Catalyst switches.

I am trying to get into the Cisco switches by either the web interface, or by adding them to the ASA.  I am not getting anywhere, nor do i have the credentials.  I have Cisco support on both of these switches but wanted to ask here first.

1.  How can I reset the passwords and gain access to these switches?
2. Can I manage them from the ASA switch?

Thank you,

Karen

Hi,
you can reset password on the switches as explained in the following:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-2950-series-switches/12040-pswdrec-2900xl.html

I'm not sure i understand your last question:
You cannot manage those switch from ASA, but you can plug those switches into the switchports of the ASA.
hope this helps

If you have console access to the switch you can press and the button and wait until you get message from console like this one:
 rommon 1 >

Than you have to enter following commands:
flash_init
load_helper
rename flash:config.text flash:config.old
boot

Now you have switch booted with no configuration applied and the original config preserved on the flash with config.old name.
