Office 2013

We have a client that is running a licensed copy of Microsoft Office 2013. When using Excel, he cannot save, save as, or browse on the file page. I have scanned it for malware, and also checked certificates and registry issues. We have uninstalled it and reinstalled and it still doesn't work. All the other programs in his office work fine.

I wear a lot of hats...

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

All excel files- I have no way to save the doc under any format. When he clicks save, save as, or browse- it doesn't do anything at all just sits there.

Hi,

Have you tried to save the file in different format. "Eg: ****.csv".

Is there is any Antivirus application is running in the system. Sometime this will block the files to save.

the client uses avast. It is turned off. But if it was the AV it would effect Word and PP also. Both of those run fine.. the issue is isolated to Saving docs in Excel ONLY.

Ok. Sometime we will have issue with Excel file only. Follow the below steps and try to open the file and save it again.

1) Close all Excel files currently in open state.
2) In run type "excel.exe /safe"
3) Open a excel file and try to do save or save as option.

It seems like the behaviour when the Trial Use finishes and office falls back to r/o mode until activated but I've never heard of it affecting only one application; here's some things you might try -
1. uninstall the excel component only and reinstall
2. confirm that Excel believes its activated - file, help
4. make sure its not being launched from a shortcut with a /r switch
5. re-confirm the product key, file, help, change product key, re-enter product key
