The processing of group policy failed

After a failed DC in the domain I manually had to remove from AD etc. On the 2012 server which is the only one I cam getting the following message

The processing of group policy failed. Windows could not obtain the name of the domain controller.

I have gone through DNS and removed all entries to the old server that failed.

Any ideas?

In Windows Server 2012 you don't have to worry about Metadata Cleanup. You can simple open Active Directory User and Computer and delete the reference of Domain Controller that crashed. After that open Active Directory Sites and Services and delete the reference of crashed Domain Controller.

In addition to that delete the reference from DNS. This would fix the issue.
