VMware ESXi and PFsense together. Can additional VM's be forced only to be filtered through PFsense?
1) Can I install Vmware ESXi and then PFsense as a VM and still PFsense as the Firewalls?
2) Also, as I add more VMs, how can I force the VM's to be filtered through PFsense and not a direct connection
to the WAN? (Is that possible?)
I will try to install on a Shuttle DS57U Intel Celeron 3205U DDR3L Slim PC Barebone, with dual Intel gigabit NICs.
Thank you,
HappyT

Ok, I followed all the instructions and set up the vSwitch, however...
When I plug a computer into the second NIC slot on the server, it doesnt get internet.
1) I have pfSense set up in VMware with 2 Nics and the first NIC is set up as a vSwitch.
2) I loaded pfSense using the web interface and loaded the WAN/LAN interfaces and IP's.
Is there something I am missing?
Thank you,
HappyT

2. You would have to create a vSwitch and connect all VM network interfaces to this vSwitch for traffic to flow through the pfsense VM.
If you computer is not on the HCL, or the storage controller and network interfaces are not compatible with ESXi, the install will fail.
