"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

First, you probably mean ACSM, not ASCM. Second, an ACSM file is not really a PDF file. Purchased EPUB books usually have DRM, and that's why you get an ACSM file. In order to open an ACSM, you must do it in Adobe Digital Editions (free!):

Even if you use a different eReader, you must install Adobe Digital Editions — then you can transfer it to a different eReader. For example, I use calibre (note this FAQ at the caliber site about ACSM files). Regards, Joe
