Windows Server 2012 Licensing
Greetings. I know that 2012 "Standard" allows for 2 VM guests on one physical machine. And I know that 2012 "Datacenter" allows for unlimited VM guests on one physical machine. Both up to two physical processors.
Questions:
1. Those VMs refer to guest 2012 VMs, correct ? With Standard, I can technically have as many guest 2008 VMs as I want, right ?
2. I've read that each additional license of Standard 2012 allows for two additional VMs. I assume that if I have additional Standard 2012 licenses, I can install additional 2012 VM guests on the same host, right ? This is just a legal licensing thing, right ? I don't need to enter any additional licensing information or configure anything special - just install the additional VM guests if I'm licensed for them, yes ?
Thanks.
