Using Office 365 Groups in Lync

When creating groups in Office 365, Lync does not seem to recognize them as distribution groups.  Although they come up through a search, Lync treats them as an individual contact rather than pulling in all the members of the group. Currently, our instance of Lync is hosted on premise so I am not sure if that would have something to do with this.  Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

They should behave similar to Groups, but as you are using on-prem Lync, that's probably expected. In EO, if I add them to the contact list or start and IM/call with the group, membership is expanded.

Is there any workaround that you may be able to offer?
Vasil Michev (MVP)Commented:
Nope. Groups are an O365 thing, they will not be supported in the on-prem versions of Exchange/SfB/SharePoint anytime soon, at least not in the same manner they are in O365.
