Restore from Backup Exec 2010 R3

Hi,

Our main server that was backing up stuff on an external drive using Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 crashed. I want to restore some files and folders to another server. I just installed Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 on another server but really dont know how to restore it?

Can you please help me step by step to restore the data to a new server?

Thank you.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Run BE, catalog the backup drive, then restore what you want.  If you want to be entirely safe, restore the files to an intermediate folder then copy them to their final location.  Doing it that way will prevent orphaned ownership and permissions problems carried over from the old server.
