At the bottom middle of your phone there should be a horizontal white bar.  Flip that up with your finger.  This is your mini settings display.  Make sure your screen brightness is turned up by toggling or sliding the bar as far right as desired.  Close that menu by swiping down.  Once the mini settings is closed can you see where to enter your password now?

Just to confirm: You are not able to access the phone because you cannot see the lock screen or the phone is not accepting the password you are entering?

Use Windows Import Pictures and Videos which is a default program on Windows PC.  I would use that if you do not want to spend money on a program to view your photos.  To use this program you basically just open any picture file and the default program used is Windows Import Pictures and Videos.  It is Windows based program.  

When iTunes asks where you want to export your photos choose a folder, navigate to that folder and open a picture.  That should open the image by default in the Windows Import Pictures and Videos program.

You will not need to turn on the camera for this process.  However, if you are having trouble seeing your iPhone's screen we need to see if we can fix that.  Unplug your iPhone from your computer first then try this:

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.  Do you see any improvement in screen visibility?

I recommend you have an Apple tech look at your device and diagnose a fix for this problem.

Does the phone make noises?  Can it be called and answered?  I'm starting to think this iPhone is dead.

Newer iPhones can be set to appear as a storage device; but, only if you have access to the settings using the phone, itself.  Without being able to change that setting, you won't ever get the Windows picture wizard to appear.
Your first picture is almost there. Check the box to import videos (too, just in case) and hit apply.

If not, you are out of luck as you need to authorize (i.e. trust) your win 7 computer from the iPhone 5s before you can sync the content inside iPhone 5s to your computer.

You need to get the screen of iPhone 5s to be replaced first as it is a hardware problem.

If that is true, the PC is already trusted and you ought to be able to backup the iPhone in iTunes or use copytrans to get whatever you want.
