Outlook wont pull in new email until restarted.

This has been happening to several computers, some I own and some client pcs. They will not pull in new emails (even when clicking send/receive). You have to close outlook and reopen for it to pull in any new email.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What version of Outlook are you using and how do you get your email (Exchange, POP, etc?)

My first thing to check would be OST/PST corruption, which can lead to all kinds of weird Outlook issues. Try rebuilding their mail profile so that it will recreate the OST/PST and see if that helps.

You could also try running SCANPST.EXE (located in Outlook program folder) and see if it can find or correct any issues.

Right now I have had this happen on 2 different versions. 2007 and 2013, both doing the same thing. All emails are using IMAP. I will try fixing the OST/PST and let you know.

How big are the OST/PST files? The bigger they get, the more chance of corruption.

These are all relatively small files. All of them are all under 2GB.

All files on all the pcs had errors. I ran scanpst and repaired the most/pst files. We will see if that fixes the issue.
