rebuild raid 1 on dell power edge R710

Hi all

i have one server dell power edge r710  this server has ESXI 5.5  not OEM

this server has only 2 local disks configured as raid1 now i have failed disk and this disk need to be replaced

now i got new disk

so the only way for me to connect to the raid controller and rebuild this raid

unfortunately this is the first time for i  do this with this server model

i found something on you tube which show how to rebuild the raid 5 just to remove the failed disk add the new one and hit F10 to start the rebuild the raid

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWKmkNT5K5U

so just i want to make sure this is the right steps in my case

plus if anyone has the admin guid for raid controller on dell power edge r710  this will be so nice

thanks

Correct, Dell PowerEdge support Hot Plug and Play, and Rebuild.

So just remove the old disk, label as dead, and insert the new disk.

Depending if the new disk has not arrived in a carrier, you will need to remove the old disk and carrier, swap the faulty disk for the new disk and re-insert the disk.

Wait for it to rebuild.

This can take several hours, and performance will be lower, whilst it's rebuilding.

Hi Andrew

thank you for your answer
i will do as you told me but do you have something like RAID configuration guide for this servers ?

another question

i just finished upgrade our vcenter from 5.5 to 6.0 with update manager and soon i will upgrade our ESXI servers from 5.5 to 6.0  and as i told you last time we don't use  esxi OEM  so
can i now upgrade to 6.0 using OEM ISO or this not possible because the current installed not OEM ?

thanks

This is the manual of Dell PowerEgde R710. Maybe you can check the manual and see if there is anything can help.
