As a general rule in software and in life, you get what you pay for. For a given vendor, the paid product is normally better than the free product. Free is worth exactly what you paid and rarely more.

I don't agree that paid for is better than free. Pand free AV which was already mentioned is just as good as the paid for version, it uses the same signatures. The paid for version just comes with more unneeded stuff like firewall etc. Windows already has a very good firewall, so there is no point in using anything else which you would even have to pay for. Also the other AV products, particularly those from symantec, are full of bloat and crapware, they don't protect you any better at all, and just slow down the PC.

Rindi - You might want to update yourself on the newest Corporate version of Symantec Endpoint. It works great on Windows 10, protects well, cleaned up a machine I was servicing very well, and uses very little resource.

Why should I pay for a product from a company I don't like, if I can get a free product that is much better, I've used for years and never had a problem with that was caused by that free product? I've used Panda on many PC's and never got a virus. This doesn't mean it is impossible to get viruses. you can get them with every product.
