Using a Web Builder to upload a video that can play on user's mobile device

My goal is, using GoDaddy web builder or another commercial web builder, build a very simple website in which I can upload multimedia (audio or video) files.  Then tie them to a link or button on the site, so that when a user selects the button / link on a mobile device, the video or audio file plays automatically.

Currently using GoDaddy, I've created the button, but when I select it on an iPhone 5, the media does not open.  It opens what appears to be a media player, but nothing plays.  On a PC, the file plays, though differently depending on the how I've uploaded the file type (for avi the PC downloads the file upon clicking it and for mp4 it opens a media player that plays the audio, but not the video.)

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Media doesn't work the way you think it does.

If you upload a file and then click it without parsing it through a media player of some sort, the browser will handle the file based on its configuration and capabilities.  This is why you see different behaviors on different browsers.  The phone doesn't have anything that will natively play the file, the PC does but each file type is handled a little differently based on configuration.  Some download, some attempt to open a program and play it.

What you need to do to make files play on the web site is stream them through an embedded media player of some sort.  Does the GoDaddy web builder offer that sort of option?
