I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

(I take it coding the operating system that will be the next thing to replace windows isn't quite what you want as a suggestion)

Could you be a little more specific as to what exactly are you looking for?

What sort of project do you want to create? What language do you wish to use? What IDE do you normally use?

The more specific the question is, the better we can help you.
if you studied c++,  you might consider using visual studio community (which you can download for free), then look at the mfc sample projects and use one of them as a base for your own project. of course with visual studio you also could go html or .net with either visual basic, managed c++ or c#.
