I have Exchange 2010 running and Cloudmark spam filter and I am still getting a lot of Spam despite using the blacklist.  What can I do with the Transport Hub to stop more spam?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can create custom rules for messages you want to mark as spam. In rule you can purge the email and stop further processing.

What are the settings in the Cloudmark spam filter? Will it only mark messages? Delete? Quarantine?
If it only marks messages, it's only logical they're getting through, as that's what you want. You have to tell Exchange how to handle those marked messages.
Usually, since the Cloudmark spam filter is in FRONT of the Exchange, you have to strengthen the rules there.
If you use Cloudmark for Desktop, it means it comes AFTER  the Exchange server. In that case, enable more rules in Exchange (use SPF/SenderID/DNSBL rules)

1) Make sure this option is checked “Block messages sent to recipients not in the global address list” available under Exchange 2010 content Filtering

2) Enable "Reject messages with SCL rating grater or equal to 7 under Exchange 2010 content Filtering

3) Configuring External Blacklist Providers (Need to check for pricing , some block list are free)

Ok - As soon as I installed the changes I have a "Amazon Rewards" spam mail.  I checked the SCL value and it is a -1.  Any ideas how to reject a -1 SCL?
thanks
