SP 2013 Open with Explorer Disabled

Experts,

I've seen a number of users with a similar problem - My Open with Explorer button is greyed out on my SP 2013 libraries. A lot of users pointed to it being an 64bit IE problem, but that's not the case for me. The Connect to Outlook and Export to Excel features work. It appears to be for all document libraries I have in my site collection. Is there a feature I need to switch on to enable this functionality or something else I'm missing?

Regards,

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I've created a new sitecollection and this feature works fine here so it appears to be specific to one site collection.

Hi,
the Windows Explorer view feature is one of the trickiest things in SharePoint to debug.
Some basic questions:
Does the problematic site have a different base url (domain)?
Is it a host header named site collection?
Can you verify the permission sets of the site if the client intergration and WebDav integration permissions are allowed?
What permissions do you have on this site?

Just a starter to nail down the issue ...

Rainer,

Thanks for your response.

The problem is to do with my custom master page that I'm using. Once I switch back to a built in template, everything works.

My apologies, I should have closed the ticket earlier. I'll grant you the points as I believe your suggestions will help users troubleshoot this type of problem in future.
