.htaccess - Redirect Required

In the past I've used the .htaccess to redirect URLs when I've done site re-writes etc.

I'm in the process of porting my site from HTML to Wordpress.

I have over a thousand articles that will come across, the old URL looks like...

http://www.mysite.com/KB/Article/0000001.htm And the number increments accordingly  up to http://www.mysite.com/KB/Article/0001107.htm

The new site uses permalinks and the articles there will be...
http://www.mysite.com/KB/Article/0000001 to http://www.mysite.com/KB/Article/0001107

SO IDENTICAL but without the .htm on the end!

So Is there a piece a code that I can put on my .htaccess that will redirect all requests from the original URL to the new one without having over a thousand 301 redirects?

Hope that makes sense.
