Formula for Barcode Scanning within Excel 2010

I'm trying to write a formula that will combine information from 2 different cells, add asterisks to each end (to make it scanable) and add a Tab function in the middle. I'm utilizing code 39 FullASCII. The formula below works, but I can't figure out how to add in the Tab function. I've tried putting in $I within the formula with no success. Please help.

Your example formula doesn't show how you were trying to add the HorizontalTab control-code character (as you state, represented by "$I" when encoding as "Full ASCII Code 39" rather than "Standard Code 39").

Nor do you show examples of what the cells G7 and S4 may contain - perhaps the contents have to be modified to suite the full-ASCII encoding?

... and just what do you mean by "with no success"?
Does the bar-code scan or not?
Is it just that your scanner/target application doesn't 'action' the tab?
Or what?

I was attempting to add the $I, but could not get the formula to accept. I figured it out though. Thanks for your help.
