printer not mapped into remote desktop connection

I have user (win 7 64) who logs on to the sofo vpn and then uses rdp to connect to the accounting server (win ser 2008 r2).
The user needs to print but his printer is not mapped into his remote session. I checked the settings of the rdp instance to verify that local resources are mapped.  installed the hp universal print driver pcl6 on the server. This is the same driver he uses locally.

What do I need to do to have local printers populated in the rdp session?

Make sure there is no GPO preventing mapping of printers.

check event log to see if there is an event for application/system that indicates the printer is being seen.

Are any of the local printers XPS, are reflected on the RDP session? If not that would point to a GPO restriction denying

The problem Was with the printer driver. I installed a different model printer and it was mapped into the remote session.
