rgb192 on my windows 7 prof I go to control panel Auto play
User generated imageselect the import option and choose your default action then save that
User generated imageAlternative open  Windows Photo viewer
Look in your Start Orb all programs
If you have windows live installed you have windows photo viewer which I use
Right click a jpeg and open with choose which program to open it select your preferred program and save
Now any images will open that program
User generated image
at the start menu all programs>  look at the top of your All programs  see Default Programs eher as well you choose which program does what with which files
User generated imageThat should cover it.

Merete
requires having a file to open program
I do not have a file yet

nobus
has windows 8 link and I do not know what to do for windows 7
rgb192
when you set the auto play option to import from? then when you connect your device it automatically import them using the program you chose as default to open, the once you set the default open with clicking on any image that you set the default program to open with that image any image will open in that program.
With regards to a file?? that is an entirely different approach files do not have a default program.
please state the type of file your referring to?
cheers
the same works for windows 7

i usually open paint - then select import from camera

"It is still asking for a file"

I really don't understand your question now. With the pic , the window on the right is the "Import Photo and Video" wizard. It even says it at the top of the Window. It's open. If you had a camera connected, you'd see an option to import from a camera. The window on the right isn't asking for a file, it's listing devices or locations you can import pictures from.

I'm guessing the question now is why do you want to open up the Import Photo and Video wizard? Do you want to import from a camera? An SD card? A CD? You're going to have to import photos from somewhere.

Are you looking to scan in a photo from a scanner? Because that's a different question.

photo from iphone

other devices
only drive 'e'
shown in my last screenshot is clickable
Is your iPhone attached? Is it unlocked? Did it prompt you to trust your PC? Does it show up in "My Computer"?

original question is
windows 7
how can i open
windows import photo and video

I do not want to find a file that could open program, I want to open program
maybe click on .exe file

what do you think location will be

one of the reasons I asked this is question is for the iphone, but there are other reasons

this is not an iphone question
You asked to open "windows import photo and video". The command I listed opens the Windows Import Photo and Video wizard window. Your question has been answered.

Now, the Import Photo and Video Wizard didn't show your iPhone as an option for importing, but that's a problem with your iPhone, not the Wizard. If you want help specifically with your iPhone I'll try to help in this thread, but if you're just asking about the wizard in general, if you have a device that Windows can import photos or video from connected, it will show up in that window.
BTW, I just tested this with an SD card I put into an SD card reader on my PC. With the card in, it shows up in the Import Photo and Video Wizard Window. With no card in, nothing shows up in the window.
