Yep, that's the way that POP3 works.  Whenever a copy of a message is downloaded, it is marked as read even though it is left on the server.  The only way to get around that is to use IMAP.

POP3 behaves as you described. When Outlook (or any email client) is configured as POP3 it downloads emails from server to computer and you are not able to see it on server anymore.
You have 2 options - configure account as IMAP or stay with POP3 (if you have reason why you cannot change from POP3 to IMAP) and configure clinet to leave copy of message on server as well

I prefer IMAP because even you set to leave a copy of message on server for POP3 it could be your read messages in one Outlook will be marked as unread in another Outlook or on webmail, also if you use flags in Outlook this won´t wotk across clinets, contacts, tasks ... all this will not work as you would expect, I am affraid.

Go for IMAP

If "Leave Mail on the Server" is truly checked on both computers, the email will come to both. I use POP3 on two computers and have been doing this for years.

You may wish to double check the flag in the account (one Leave Mail on Server flag for each and every account). It does work for me.
